This two days trip’s purpose was to understand the finer details of the cycling infrastructure in the Netherlands and find what really works and how it can be implemented in Ireland.

The first day consisted of an introduction to cycling in The Netherlands to make sure we didn’t hurt ourselves or anyone else as we were a mixed group at best when it came to cycling. The rest of the day we spent cycling a number of different routes to examine as many aspects of Dutch cycling and pedestrian routes as we could. Being on the bikes gave each of us first hand experiences on the different mechanisms in place and how they can be learned easily by new people to the city.

The second morning we cycled for around 3 hours taking in different aspects and elements of the inter-town networks, a healthy amount of touristy sightseeing before arriving in Zeist. In the evening, we had a good breakdown of the last two days and a group discussion on what works and how to implement new elements to Ireland.
